Why sustainable living? To be honest, you may be better able to answer that then we are, but for the sake of those who are new to the subject here are a few factors that make sustainability a necessity for the future. Since 1969, when Earth Day was first inspired by the late senator Gaylord Nelson, 157 animals have been added to the list of threatened or endangered species and over one quarter of the plants are extinct, rare, endangered, or threatened right here in California alone. Those are alarming figures. Furthermore with today’s fragile economy it really makes sense to get the materials, equipment and knowledge that will be needed to create our own renewable and sustainable energy. As earth’s population and modern technology encroaches deeper into the once boundless reaches of nature the human race is faced with the choice between destroying the earth and sustaining it. We are here to do our part as wise stewards of our fragile but lovely Mother Earth.

This will be a community effort and we invite you to join our community. Please help us with your insights knowledge and wisdom. We will be inviting guest writers and bloggers. Anyone who can make valuable contributions to this effort will be prized by TheGreenHouse.com.
